Grand Prix Wielkopolski
- the 8th edition
The Wielkopolski competition for frms
and active people in the life of the re-
gion, the 8th edition, which was organ-
ised under the patronage of Poznań
Governor Jan Grabkowski, Chairman of
Poznań City Council – Grzegorz Gano-
wicz, Vice-Governor of Gniezno District
– Piotr Gruszczyński. And members of
European Parliament – Jan Kułakowski
and Filip Kaczmarek remains unset-
tled.
The purpose of the competition is to
distinguish and promote companies
and people who have signifcantly con-
tributed to the region of Wielkopols-
ka. Quality of services and products
is evaluated. So far almost 130 institu-
tions from the whole region have taken
part in this action. The Chapter Award
has decided to award distinctions to
leading personalities of social, econom-
ic and sports life.
Among nominees for the Certifcate
of this year’s edition are car dealers,
craftsmen, educational institutions. Re-
gional auditors have nominated com-
panies, social organization, institutions
and personages whereas the Chapter
has decided to award 53 Certifcates.
The fnalists are: Partner Kärcher Ltd
Ker-Her S.J. from Poznań. Ker-Her.
Grand Prix went to Ker-Her company
for the seventh time due to their high
service quality and Kärcher products
sales.
Ker-Her, which is an exemplary company
insisting on quality service and Fair Play
in business, is consequently building its
position among the best companies in
our dealer network, as well as among
other companies in Wielkopolska.

The 6th International Katyń
Rally (26 August 2006 – 10
September 2006)
THEPURPOSE OF THE RALLY: pay-
ing tribute to Polish Knighthood – Of-
fcers of the Polish Army, Policemen,
Soldiers of KOP, Polish intelligentsia
– murdered by communists and the
Germans in Ponary, Katyn, Miednoje,
Charkov, Kiev-Bykovnia, Lvov at the
Woleckie Hills. Remembering soldiers
of the Polish Army who died “For Our
and Your Freedom”.
PATICIPANTS: 52 people on 45 motor-
cycles, 3 vans and one car with the tele-
vision crew cooperating with TVP Polo-
nia. Participants were motorcyclist from
all over Poland, from all walks of life
(Michał Byrski, specialist from a Kärch-
er car wash!).Among others there were
3 pilots from LOT – Boeing 767 cap-
tains, 3 Roman-Catholic priests, a PKP
engine driver, musician, architect, stu-
dents and pensioner. There was also a
group of singing teenagers, attracting
much attention. The youngest motor-
cyclist was a 19-year old Michał Szeli-
ga, a student of law, whereas the oldest
was a 67-year old pensioner. The Ral-
ly was also attended by 3 motorcyclists
from Chicago and one from Vienna and
one from Copenhagen.
ROUTE: 16 days (6000 km) Warszawa
– Sokółka – Szczuczyn – Vilna – Dy-
neburg – Katyń – Ostaszków – Mied-
noje – Moscow – Kursk – Charkov –
Kiev-Bykovnia – Berdyczov – Brachil-
ow – Bar – Kamieniec Podolski – Cho-
cim – Trenches of the Holy Trinity –
Jałowiec – Buchacz – Lvov – Żołkiew
– Warszawa.
The RALLY began on 26 August
2006 at 10 o’clock at Marshall Józef
Piłsudski Square (in front of the Tomb
of the Unknown Soldier) in Warszawa.
It was a formal ceremony organized by
the Police Headquarters and the Pol-
ish Army. The ceremony was attended
by the orchestra and the honour com-
pany of the Polish Army and the choir
of Voluntary Fire Brigade “Fajerton”
from Dulcza. During the opening cer-
emony of the 6th Rally, the Associa-
tion of International Motorcycle Katyń
Rally was presented with a beautiful
Banner, which was a gift from Volun-
tary Fire Brigade from the Mielec dis-
trict. Since that moment, the Banner
accompanied us at all Polish cemeter-
ies, and open death graves in Kiev-
Bykovnia.
