ter has 40 l each) and Pack – built in
battery system with charger. Thanks to
a higher battery capacity, scrubber dri-
ers achieve a running time that is 40
per cent longer (max. 2.5 h) than their
predecessors. The machines are oper-
ated by means of a single control knob
on the steering panel. Electromagnet-
ic valve shuts off the water supply as
soon as the machine comes to a stand-
still. On “C” models, without traction
drive, the brushes rotate in the same
direction to assist forward drive.
Maintenance of scrubber driers can
be performed quickly and simply. Roll-
er brushes can be changed in seconds
without the need for tools, and disc
brushes are easily unlocked by means
of a foot pedal. A transparent hose at
the fresh water tank shows the condi-
tion of water. It is also used for empty-
ing the tank. For easy mobility and to
protect the brushes in the parked posi-
tion, a support wheel can be lowered.
When the holder is folded up, the unit
can easily be transported and stored –
it does not take much room.
Kärcher in “Orli Staw”
In 1998, the central part of Poland 19
local authorities from the province of
Wielkopolska and Łódź set up the Mu-
nicipalAssociation of Communes, which
successfully applied for funds from the
European Union within the framework
of pre-accession fund ISPA (at pres-
ent the Cohesion Fund). The goal of
the Association was to construct the
Waste Treatment and Utilisation Plant
“Orli Staw” in Nowe Prażuchy within the
Joint Plan of Recycle Economy” .
Financial memorandum in this mat-
ter, between the European Committee
and the Polish Government, signed in
2002/2003 enabled the Association to
carry out the investment. It is worth 20
million Euro, the European Union do-
nation was 11.6 million Euro, i.e. 69
per cent of qualifying costs. Plant “Or-
li Staw” is a complex of technological
objects located in the area of 10 ha, in
the commune of Ceków Kolonia. The
objects include: collecting place, sort-
ing, intensive composting, with a place
where compost is enhanced to de-
compose; segment for disassembling
multidimensional garbage; segment
for processing rubble; plot for storing
ballast; warehouse for storing hazard-
ous materials. Such a plant is adapt-
ed to recycle about 100 thousand tons
of municipal waste per year produced
in the territory of the Association activ-
ities, inhabited by over 300 thousand
people.
Initially, the investment was divid-
ed into four contracts. Two contracts
were for work, one for services and
one for equipment supply. All tender
procedures were satisfed and con-
tracts were concluded with success-
ful bidders: our dealer frm Ksomar
from Kalisz being one of them. Equip-
ment which helps maintain cleanliness
in the object are: HDS 1000 BE, HDS
895, BD Trike and KM 100/100. From
29 September to 1 October, 2006, dur-
ing open days, all companies which
supplied equipment and machines to
the plant could present their products
to visitors.
Our participation in this investment can
prove very fruitful as it is the frst plant of
this kind in Poland, and there are plans
for new objects to open due to co-fund-
ing from the European Union.

Contract Orlen - Kärcher
In December 2006 Karcher Ltd conclud
ed a contract with PKN Orlen for th
supply of self-service vacuum cleaner
to concern petrol stations.
The contract is binding until 2009 an
refers to vacuum cleaners for one- o
two- stand island, in a stainless stee
cover with a hose retraction. Petro
stations operating within the networ
of PKN ORLN S.A. will be successivel
equipped with these vacuums. It is esti
mated that several hundred units will b
supplied to those petrol station.
